Who Shaped Whom : Inspirational Story as a Parent

 

That day me and Tariq were having our borak2 time - moving casually from one topic to another🥰🥰

Then Tariq said..,

… Mama.., you know… that day when you refused to eat during the Annual dinner at my TKD course, I was so impressed with you..

.

.

Omg!!!

.

.

Nak tergelak hearing Tariq used the word ‘impressed’ with me.😂

.

.

… Why were you impressed with Mama, sayang..?, I probed further as I giggled away

.

.

… Coz you said you just paid for my dinner…  and you didnt pay for your portion so you cannot eat…

.

.

… Even when I said ambik la a class of drink or at least one kuih Mama… you still said No even though no one will know if you take that kuih to eat or drink.., said Tariq

.

.

… And that day was not the first time Tariq saw Mama didnt want to take something you said you have no right to… even if no one else will know about it…

.

.

… Mama do it many many times…, said Tariq

.

.

Allahu Akbar, SubhanAllah..😭😭😭

I feel like crying… really…

.

.

We all know children watch us and copy adults all the time

.

.

But for Tariq to say it to my face..

.

.

It scared the hell out of me.

.

.

The fact that our children watch and observe us all the time becomes so real!

.

.

The first thing that cross my mind is what are the wrong things, the not so good things, the bad things that I have knowingly or unknowingly shown to Tariq? 💔

.

.

How many unimpressive things that Tariq saw me doing..?

.

.

Allahu Akbar

That conversation has played in my mind over and over again.

.

.

Truly, it is our children that makes us want to be a better person.

.

.

It is because of our children that we want to hold a higher ethical standard.

.

.

It is because of our children we correct our manners.

.

.

It is because of our children we leave the nonsense we used to do before we had them.

.

.

Because we know they are watching us, they copy us and they paste those things they watch us do, unto themselves 😭

.

.

Good or bad.

.

.

Allah…

.

.

We parents and adults sometimes think that we are the only one shaping our children.

.

.

Truth is, they shaped us too.

.

.

Thank you Allah rezekikan that I found out what was on Tariq’s mind

Thank you Allah for making Tariq  innocently share his evaluation of my conducts.
