Charity is not merely or limited to dollars and cents. Allah is Most Merciful Most Loving, everything good we do can be a charity..

Ibn 'Abbas said, "There are 360 joints and each of them owes sadaqa every single day. Every good word is sadaqa. A man's helping his brother is sadaqah. A drink of water which he gives is sadaqah. Removing something harmful from the road is sadaqah." 

(Al Adab Al Mufrad - Book 24, Hadith 422)
