Favourite Clip: Don't Quit Poem: Motivational and Inspirational Story on Being Steadfast and Persistent in Life
That day I wanted to meet someone at her office. As I entered the building, I saw a huge crowd was waiting for the elevator.
Naturally, I joined them and this was when I saw that a few of the elevators were out of order.
'Oh no...' I whispered to myself. 'This is going to take long...'
Although stairs climbing is not one of my favourite activities, the number of people waiting in front of the lift was enough to make me think twice.
'Come on, Zabrina, just use the stairs. It is just three floors up!' I heard a voice making an effort to convince my royal-highness-self to take up this opportunity to exercise.
I remembered an old Turkish proverb,
'You have to walk up each step to get to the top of the staircase.'
Of course! And because I have to walk each step to get to the top of the staircase, I would rather just push one button that would take me to the top, right?
Argh... I hate it when arguments happen in my head!
But like they say, good things always win.
So, a few seconds later, there I was, climbing... step by step by step by step by step..
And as I was climbing the stairs, I remembered one of my favourite clips that carries the message of steadfastness and persistancy.
Let me share it with you...
Don't Quit Poem by anonymous
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest! if you must; but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up, though the pace seems slow; You might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out; The silver tint of the clouds of doubt; And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit; It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
It is truly when things seem the worst that you mustn't quit.
And I know that is so true because Allah has promised me and you, promised us in His own words as below,
“Whoever works righteousness — whether male or female — while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do” [al-Nahl 16:97]
Absolutely, right?
If we have been promised by the Lord of the Universe, the Owner of everything and existed from before till eternity, that we will be rewarded IN PROPORTION to the BEST of what we do, what do really we want to quit and give up?
